New to the forum so any information would be great. I recently purchased a 500 Bone Collector and I love it but I am having problems with light firing pin strikes with my reloaded ammo. Works better with Winchester casings than it does with Hornady. I have been using winchester large rifle and winchester large rifle magnum primers. I would appreciate some help. Thanks

It's a special edition of the S&W 500 "X" frame from the performance center. It's limited to 1000 pieces. I just bought one also.

I have a PC 500, one of the blackened 7.5 inch models. I needed primers and was forced to buy Win LRM instead of the usual CCI. I Had some issues with hard primers with the Win. both with this batch and in the past so I usually avoid them.
Not sure if this has anything to do with the light strikes or not, but my sideplate screws had loosened up a bit, so I tightened them and did not have another light strike after. in fact I put a round in the gun that would not go off prior to tightening the screws and it went off normally.

If you bought the gun used somebody probably loosened the mainspring screw to lighten the double action. This could cause light strikes. Another thing would be primers not fully seated but you would probably notice this as the cylinder wouldn't turn as easily as it should and result in a very stiff DA trigger pull. I have quite a few tuned competition S&W revolvers and always use Federal primers for reloads. They are much softer than any other brand. If I use CCI or Winchester primers in some of them I will routinely get misfires. Never, ever happens with Federal primers. BTW CCI primers are the worst for this issue IMHO. Once for giggles I loaded some empty cases with Federal, Winchester and CCI primers and ran them through a gun with the worst habit of misfires. You could easily see which primers were softer and easier to set off.
Thanks for the information about the Federal Primers being softer, I haven't tried them yet. I had a similar problem with a Smith & Wesson TRR8 357 Magnum I've got. I sent it back to the factory and still did pretty much the same thing.
