Welcome to the Site! Here's one for ya I found before I decided to start rolling my own:

500 S&W : Matts Bullets Ammunition

The 350 Grain Hornady XTP Hollow Point are $90.00 per 50 cartridges which is $1.80/round before shipping which ain't bad compared to $3.00/round for over the counter ammo.. Keep in mind though that the same round can be hand loaded, to your personal taste's, for less than $1.00/round and as cheap as $.30/round!!!

In this case at least, reloading CAN pay for itself!!!!! ;) :D

500 Magnum Ammo

I have been using Underwood ammo for my last five purchases. No failures, fast shipping, and the ballistics are better than most of the competition. Prices are also very competitive. As to accuracy, my last grouping using their 440 gr gas check flat nose lead with iron sights from a bench rest produced the larges three shot group of 2 1/4" and the best 3/4". My barrel length is 8 3/8". Sighted in at 25 yards it was dead on at 100 yds. I highly recommend them to you.

Just last week, I got three 20-round boxes of Copper Only Projectiles 275-grain Solid Copper Hollow Point ammo for a friend from MidwayUSA for $30.99 per box. The total cost with shipping and the NRA round-up was $107.00.

I am looking for any information on some powder for reloading the S&W 500. I have some 275gr Barnes XPB bullets. I have load data from Barnes website. I was going for H110 but can't find any in town. I have read bad things about Lil'Gun so its out. I don't like Longshot or Titegroup because to much chance of double charge. So what about H4227 or Win 296 anyone used these powders in the S&W500? Thanks

Here's a link to a page that has different powders , bullet sizes and performance spec's. I'd suggest verifying the recipe's with the powder manufacturer before trying though! And you might want to start this thread in the Reloading forum so it'll get the proper attention!! Here's the link:

H110 and WW296 are basically the same powder. IMR4227 works fine in the S&W 500 but will be a bit dirty due to unburned powder flakes but has the advantage of not having as much "torque" making it feel better relative to recoil.

If you go with the IMR4427 and if by chance, you have a problem closing the cylinder - the reason most likely will be a powder flake got under your star extractor when dumping your expended cartridges - just clean it out and you'll be good to go.

I have read alot on other forum on S&W 500 load data. Why would you buy a 500 mag and load it like a 44mag? just buy a 44 and save some money. I bought my 500 mag to feel the power of it. Not to make it into something different. They all I have to say about that.
