Finally finished my 500 magnum just thought I would share. All thats been done is
High polish
Internal tune up
SDM fiber optic sights
And a custom coco bolo checkered grip with a rose wood striped end cap made by Houge. ( it was worth the 4 month wait )

Absolutely BEAUTIFUL gun!
The reddish hue of the grips really works with the brightly polished stainless steel finish! I like...I need to make mine like this!

Thanks. I didn't think I would be this happy with it since custom orders are sort of a gamble in the respect that you won't really know the fit and finish until it's in your hands. But it exceeds my expectations. Just a word of advice, K and L framed round square butt conversion grips will work on then 500. Also houge warned me that they might crack if I fired the 500 with the wood grips installed. I didn't care since it's more of a novelty gun anyways and doesn't see as much range time as I would like. If you intend to keep it for display purposes and showing it off then these grips are perfect. Plus I can always swap the grip back to the rubber Houges that it came with if I plan to take it for a spin.

Thanks. Come on man it would be fun they said hahaha all fun in games until someone gets smacked in the face with one haha the incredible recoil is somewhat tamable though haha scares the **** out of me every time lmao

Looks fabulous, but I still don't want to shoot it! :D

Congratulations! ;)

Goober, can you tell us details on where you got this work done and what it cost, how long it took, etc? I can see myself wanting this done to many of my Smiths. Thanks.

I did all the upgrades myself. Like installing the SDM sight which any gunsmith can do. I used mothers aluminum mag polish and polished it with a standard cotton t shirt by hand for probably a total of 24 hours out of boredom haha. Keep in mind if you gun has scratches or dings you might want to have the gun bead blasted then polish to a mirror shine. I also did the internal tune up. As far as the grips go checkout getagrip.com and look for a grip you would like. If you have a specific color of grain in mind call them and place a custom order. These grips are K and L frame grips as they do not make grips for the 500. They warned me that they will crack if I use them while shooting. But I don't mind since I see my 500 as more of a novelty jaw dropper and conversation starter. If you don't mind switching back to your factory rubber grips come time to shoot and you want one hell of a display piece then this is the way to go.

Just a slightly different angle
