The S&W 500 cartridge reallly cries out fsor a shoulder rifle to fire it in. I know there's a break-down single shot, but I'm thinking of something along the lines of the late, lamented Ruger 44 mag semi-auto. A compact semi-auto carbine for the 500 would be the ultimate brush gun for small and medium sized animals.

That will unfortunately stay a dream. The 44 mag semi auto ruger had to many feeding problems with the recoil generated. The best bet, and I wouldn't be surprised to see it would be a puma levergun. They already have these in 480 ruger and 454 casull so I would not be shocked.
