if you could go back in time to buy just ONE muscle car

NOT to sell or invest.....just to have and drive

what would you bring back?

I would go get a 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback Wimbledon White with a 289 4 speed.

All I would do to it today, is fill the wheel well with as much tire as possible, modern mufflers and tint the windows. (maybe AC unit since I live in south Texas) and cruise!

unless I win the lotto or go back in time....its only a dream!

I wish I could have afforded to keep my 1969 Road Runner hard top.

I was 21 and it was the first car I ever bought. I was single and the insurance was killing me. It was the first casualty from my single life after I got married. I still have the wife, but never had another car like that one.

I wish I still had my 1956 Chevy Nomad with the 283 'vette motor. Sadly it went down the road when I built my first house so I could get a souped up 1955 Chevy pick-up to haul materials for the house!

My '67Camero with a 327. Red convertible with a black bumblebee stripe, 70 series tires and mag wheels. My Ensignmobile. Taught my wife to drive on that thing.
They're both gone now.

A '58 Chevy Impala, 2-door hardtop, 348 w/3 deuces, 4-speed, white over turquoise out, turquoise in.

or

A '63 Chevy Impala Super Sport, 409, w/2 4s, 4-speed, white out, red in.

I would like to go back to about 1980, I had a chance to buy a Shelby and thought that $3500.00 was too much. I do own a 64 1/2 Mustang coupe with a 260 V8.

My late oldest sister had about the third 1969 Mustang Mach I in Utah. It was painted "Indian Fire," a sort of metallic root beer color. Gorgeous. Girls looked at me when I drove it.

I'd like the same car in dark red.

There's a white '71 Mach I that lives a couple blocks from here. Nice.

1970 Dodge dart with the 318 engine. Had a guy who worked at a gas station who raced on weekends. He'd do tuneups on that dart and you'd think it was a different car. That was the last year that Dodge had the high compression engines. Frank

Not exactly a 'muscle' car....

My sis had a '68 Malibu with a 327. Maroon, black interior. That thing would RUN and was smooth as silk in every respect. Sporty and comfortable. Just having ridden in it impressed me so much I'd go back and buy the same car. You can go right up into the 460 range, displacement wise, but pure power isn't everything. It's just good to have more than you'll need right there in front of you.

As a junior in high school in 1972 I had a 69 Hemi roadrunner with a 4 speed 4:10 gear & no power steering. A lot of fun with gas at only 35 cents a gallon.

An orginal Shelby Cobra with the 289 Ford engine the early ones had.
The big block Ford engines the later cars had seemed a bit much to me. Or a Corvette with the small block Chevy engine. The cars with
the cleanest looks to me were the 65-67s and the 75-77s. The 70s
cars were somewhat down on HP but still had enough. These are more
sports car than muscle car I guess but for plain simple muscle the
plain Chevy Impala with the 409 engine would sure get your attention.

So many great ones from back then but my top pick 69 Chevelle SS 396. I have to admit I lusted a lot for a Dodge Challenger with the hemi engine.

Man, I love that Ford shifter. I love the transmission connected to it even more. I'd take a 68-69 Mustang fastback, with the 428 Super Cobra Jet, and 4 speed.

My cousin used to drag race one of these. Didn't you have problems changing plugs in this one. Something about having to raise the engine to get to the back plugs on one side?
