Happy Friday all,

There is a 52-1 with box and 2 mags in very nice shape at a LGS near-ish to me.

It has a red dot mount that is in the rear dovetail and appears to have 2 set screws holding it in place on the top of the slide. There is no rear site.

Question 1:
I looked a little bit and found some parts of the rear site. Is there a source for a complete site that won't be crazy expensive

Question 2:
What is the value? It is in very good condition. Original box. Extra magazine.

I looked on GB and found quite a range. I don't own any 2nd generation but I am very interested in this pistol. I have a pretty decent number of 3rd gen and I love them

Thanks for your help all

No way is it worth that price if the rear sight is missing.

I cannot think of -any- quick, easy and low cost source for that rear sight. If you find one for $100, it would be an absolute steal.

True gun value currently list average value at$1023.
Most listed on GB over $900 don't get a bid.
Without the legendary rear site much less.

The slide being drilled and tapped for optics would be a serious price ding for collectors… if you want it to shoot, not so much. That rear sight can be found alright, but I would expect to pay at least $150 in today's market, then you are still left with extra screw holes. Blanking screws will close them of course, buttttt… :( Also, are you certain the dovetail hasn't been altered?
BTW, as you described it, it doesn't have an "extra" magazine. Originally it came with two magazines with a cutout in the box to hold the second one. If you want a third mag, expect to pay $200 or so for it
You don't mention their asking price, but I would definitely be interested in it only in the "lowball" range.

Thanks for the insight and info.

I'm not sure the screws are into the slide but I'm sure they are touching it. Can't tell without removing the optic and mount.

There is only 2 magazines and it is in the higher end of the price range as far as I can tell from my looking

I may go look at it again this week

Certain dovetail optic mounts use set screws to lock down the mounting plate for the optic. I have used them and they work fine and leave no alterations to the slide. $1,025.00 would be a good and fair price for this pistol if it is in good condition. There are a lot of variables when it comes to buying a Model 52. Pictures would be nice if you can get them. I would not buy one anymore without looking inside the barrel with a bore scope. Finding a rear sight shouldn't be a real problem if you have some patience but they won't be cheap anymore. Magazines are the problem for this pistol and they are expensive. Last nice 52 I saw at a local GS went for $1,500.00 with the original box and a spare mag.
