Today I had the displeasure of disassembling my 52-2 and the front bushing did not want to come loose. I only shot 5 rounds through it but that bushing was stuck tight. I used a CRC product " Knock em looz" and with the bushing wrench was finally able to loosen up things. So I guess I had it too tight.
How tight should it be? all the way and then back off a half turn? more? less?

Thanks guys..

I don't know the official procedure, but I tighten mine until it stops, not really tightening at all. Than I back it off one notch. It's always worked for me and have never had any trouble getting it back apart for cleaning.

Absolutely concur! I'll choose the word 'snug' for the tightness. It does not require any 'elbow grease' to be properly tightened.
Glad you were able to break it loose.

I tighten mine finger tight to the last possible notch for the pin to come through. Is this correct?

Yes finger tight is the way . If you go tighter you wear the barrel to bushing fit quicker . Also a few drops of oil on barrel end every time before shooting , along with frame rails & disconnector too .

I agree too. I took it apart years ago out of curiosity and never disassembled the barrel bushing since. You can clean it good without taking the bushing out.

Bushing

Hello, I never use the Bushing Wrench, I only finger snug, if it does not make it to the next notch, I back it off. I have never had one stick, but if you do tighten it down, expect problems. Also the procedure to assemble is in the manual, or printed page. The last thing you install before installing the slide on the Frame is to install the recoil spring, so there is never any pressure against the bushing when your assembling the gun.
