I think the 52 .38 wadcutter target can come back. The 29 certainly did.

Im not going to be an ***. If you have had 52s and have one now, pull it out and shoot it and look at it. I dont know how the factory could make that gun today. They made the 952 in 9mm, less than a 1000 of them
made. Selling for $4000.00. 38 ammo is a little hard to find, but out there . I have a 52-2 that I keep on the desk, and still marvel how those guys put these together. Nice ones are still out there at a fair price. Make it again? I dont see how.

Production was stopped due to the cost to fix/replace the broken machinery used to make the 52. So unless you want a polymer version I don't think S&W will be repairing that machinery
you are correct. Also sales had fallen and cost exceeded expense of manufacturing. Plus the old guys that fitted them were retiring.
