In a moment of weakness.. I caved.
$1595. Have had my eye on it on GI and it’s a nice one
No box, papers, no extra 22lr cylinder.. no inserts… but I have those for my 6”. I’ll probably get more inserts and maybe another spare 22LR if I can find one. I found one last year.
Only seen in photos but looks very nice.
$1595 is a little steep but doing layaway makes it relatively painless. $900 down already..,
She’ll be in my hands in mid Feb.
I have the 6” in a custom case.
Had to get the little brother.
Photos soon.
I’ve seen a few 4” but theyre rare and this looked too good to pass up. No wiggle room on price with layaway..
I needed this one.
It is now checked off “the list”
All I need now are a nickel and stainless 22 lr.

I have all three, 4" , 6", 8 3/8ths. I've only shot the 4". It is LOUD! It's louder than my 30 carbine Ruger. super accurate.

I've only shot a 6" many years ago so my recall is a bit foggy BUT even that was LOUD compared to the Ruger 30 carbine which I've shot more recently.
The Ruger is not - IMO - as loud as people complain about.

Nice! The 4 incher is the least common and feel nice in the hand.
A small sampling of a few of my Jets while you wait patiently for your waiting period . :)

“Congrats on the gun, were you able to verify that there is little or no erosion on the forcing cone?”

I didn’t. I just bought. Condish looked very nice and I’d been looking at a couple of other 4”. One on another auction site that went for less but had some pitting and wear.
I’ll get some pics of this one when I get it.

I too had all 3 barrel lengths. Sold the 4" and 8.375" when somebody offered me way to much $$ for them. The amount of flash and noise that comes out of the 4" is amazing, with just about zero recoil. Try to shoot it in twilight conditions.

I paid a few buck less than that for my 4" about a year ago but it came with original diamond stocks and 6 inserts and had 3 T's. Overall, as long as the condition is good, I think you did alright on it. Was the seller in California? Curious, what dash and 3 T's? Seems I see more 4" with target features than the longer barrel versions which make no sense to me.

Not sure yet.
I’ll get all the details when I get it.
Not 3 T.
However, I do have a target Hamner for a 53.
I wouldn’t drop into my 6” so I may have my local gunsmith fit it so I can swap out and keep the original.
Local guy here is Jeff Walle. I was glad to see Hickok 45 give him a shout out not too long ago.

I have two 6" Model 53's. I've been searching high and low for an extra .22 Magnum cylinder, but no luck so far. I have the inserts for both of my guns, and the original box and papers for one of them.

If anyone has a lead on an extra .22 Magnum cylinder, I'm definitely interested....

I found one on Gunbroker about 7 months ago.
With taxes and fees? Came out to just shy of $600… but I had to have it. Probably would have bid to 700 if necessary.
I have heard they have gone on eBay for 800

Jetitus is a horrible addiction....

You'll love it...

About 15 years ago had the chance to buy a 4" with the extra cylinder and box. It was reasonably priced but passed it as I already had a 6"...

One of those "shoulda" guns...

..are you looking for the .22 (Jet) Magnum cylinder or the auxiliary .22 Rimfire cylinder. The Rimfire cylinder was only made in .22 S-L-LR not .22 Rimfire Magnum...although I did see one 6" with a third cylinder in .22 Magnum that was said to be factory .22 WMR...

I'm looking for a .22 Magnum cylinder. They were once offered that way, from what I understand. The box my Model 53-2 came in is printed .22 Magnum, and it has the factory label with the serial number on it. I have a boatload of .22 Magnum ammunition I'd like to use in one of my Model 53's.

Hope this helps.

The 22 Magnum on your box is the reference to the 22 (Jet) Magnum, that's what is roll marked on your barrel too. I've never seen a M53 cylinder in 22 WMR but that doesn't mean S&W didn't make some. More likely someone reamed a 22LR cylinder, which you could do if you could find one.
