Hi guys,
Newbie here in need of some help. Firstly I am in Australia so a bit behind the eightball when it comes to guns. I purchased this old girl as my first S&W Revolver, 586-2 1987 version. I noticed the cylinder was a bit sticky to swing out so I looked up google and did a bit of a strip to clean it up. It was in a mess full of old oil and gunk, anyhow after a through clean I was reassembling it and noticed a small part was missing. It is called a gas ring, part # 306810 in the exploded parts picture. I am having a lot of trouble sourcing one in OZ, I contacted S&W in USA and they can’t sent parts to us over here, also they don’t seem to carry the part anymore either. As far as I can see it is just a small ring about 1/4” across so why that can’t be exported is beyond me, hell it is only a little bit of metal. Anyhow I don’t suppose anyone had wrecked one of these revolvers or has the part they want to sell?
Please feel free to message me if you can help.
Thanks for letting me join your group :-)

Part number 306810 you listed above is a Numrich product number, not a S&W part number. The OEM S&W part number is 04555 (blue), and 07427 (stainless).

Bore diameters are the same for the K,L,and N series revolvers, so all of the gas rings are compatible, although there are slight length differences among models that may have to be accommodated by minor fitting. (to length)
