Little back story.

I bought this pistol at a gunshow in Houston. It stayed on the table till 3-4 in the afternoon. I asked some question on this forum and found out some info. It appears they made around 250 of these for RSR in the mid 80's.

When asking value I was told it was worth lower 4 digit figure. I received an unsolicted offer for $1500.

I ran this pistol twice and have received a couple of good trade offers. The best one was very tempting, I just don't like comped pistols.

This pistol appears to only have been test fired ( Only has burn marks on every other cylinder).

I have some nice pistols, but am not a "Collector". By that I mean I like to shot my guns.

My question is: Since no one seems intrested in this pistol should I just start enjoying it, or wait till someone shows intrest?

If someone offered you $1500 cash and you passed....well, you missed that opportunity.....I have seen your ad and thought that it was overpriced quite a bit. I would not comment otherwise, but since you asked.... Shoot it, enjoy it, and don't sweat the money ;)

A 3" L frame 357 mag is a great, well balanced weapon, but they are not bringing stupid money. I would think that the 3" CS-1's will bring more than a 3" 586.....just my .02 :)

Shoot or Sell?

It's difficult for me to own a gun I can't shoot. And, I bet that 586 really shoots well. But for $1500 you could get a nice shooter grade .357 and a ton of ammo. Every Smith I ever bought for an investment, I ended up keeping. Go figure. Either way, I think you have a win-win. You already own a sweet revo. The hard part is over.

Don't over-value it, IMHO $1500 is about the best you'll do. I wouldn't shoot it, but rather, hang onto it until someone offers you $1500. Or, stick it on Gunbroker with a reserve of $1500.

I agree with this gent, especially as you don't shoot it.

Thanks for the replys.

I have been buying and enjoying S&W's for over 35 years. My first firearm purchase was a Model 19 way back in 1975.

A little more info on the $1500 offer. It was a 60 day payment plan and I haven't had the best of luck on those.

I disagree with the CS-1 being worth more, because I have had the chance to buy 4 in the last year and a half and have only seen one of the 3" 586s ever.

So I guess it's back to the safe and think on it a bit. Guess I need enjoy the nice 28-2 I picked up last weekend.
