I was shooting my 586 not too long ago and after about 100 shots the hammer would not stay back when I was shooting D/A. After I got it home i could not recreate the problem. Anyone have any idea's what may be wrong.

D/A = double action to me ...to you also?

DA...you pull the trigger the cylinder rotates and then stops while this is happening the hammer travels to the rear and then falls forward to fire the round..it does not stay to the rear...perhaps I fail to understand your meaning..or you meant single action ...SA

What were you shooting for ammo? Some reloads are dirty (BULLSEYE Power) and it could had been some crud get thur the hand window and got on the hammer and stuck due to the heat in the gun.How hot did you get her? If it is a new gun and you were braking her in could be part of the problem. Good chance that it will do it the next trip out, if it doens't I would bet it won't do it again.
