586 4" with a PC treatment ?

Hi all - I'm looking at purchasing my first revolver and have narrowed down to a 4" S&W. I really want a blue'd revolver, just like the finish, which leads me toward a 150909. But I'd really like one with the performance center guys doing their work on it. Does anyone know if they send any of their 150909's through the PC shop, maybe a different model number? I don't really want the 3" L-comp.

I may end up with the 686P 178029 - If I can find one. It's everything I want except a blue'd finish.

You could buy a standard m586, then send it to S & W for a "fluff and buff". They offer a number of package deals on their website. I think the performance center does that work.

I just picked up my 178029 - I haven't shot it yet but running it with some snap caps -WOW that DA trigger is amazing! Super happy to finally have my first blue box ;-)

The Kernal has the right idea, I have a 586-1 and it's a great revolver. It performs great at the range. I guess I've lost touch some, someone educate me, what are these long model numbers?

The 6 digit numbers are the S&W part numbers for a specific optioned S&W - the 178029 is a distributor exclusive 4" 686P (7 hole cylinder) with the performance center trigger fluff and buff.

If you take a look at all the revolvers you'll see the 6 digit part numbers with each specific model here: Revolvers | Smith & Wesson

The 178029 isn't listed (that I could find) - presumably because it's a distributor exclusive specs

btw I did put 1/2 a box of 38 spl through it, kicks like a 22 - and 1/2 a box of magnum's through it - handled them easily! That single action is so light it's almost scary. Double action is easier than some striker fired pistols I've put my hands on *cough*(Ruger) ;-)
