s&w just sent my model 586 back with the modified bushing around the firing pin.they also stamped the m above the the serial no.which i believe means modified.even over three decades later they still honored the recall warranty at 0 cost. my serial no. has a late 1982 ship date.but the insignia is on the left side where the cylinder release is.anyway its my primary ccw even tho its 6 inch barreled.i wear it cross draw on my left side belt or i have an old Idaho leather co.shoulder holster with a built in spring to hold it in so it won't fall out so i can can just pull the gun down and out.sure saves time. i do have a strap over the hammer but when i am out and about i don't strap it.if i need it i want to clear leather in an instance

Did they send you a shipping label? What kind of box did they use to return it? Good that they still honor a 30 year old recall. Did it take long?

586 recall returned

sorry for the late reply. been gone.they shipped it back in a fedex box and had it wrapped in a oil film paper.great job.it took 43 days, only because they didn't read the required note why they had it.it was moved to custom gun repairs and after 2 phone calls they had it back in the recall station.so i guess i should have called sooner.but they repaired and shipped it on their dime.
