Recently picked up a 586 no - 4", near mint but no box or papers. S.N. is AJY6241. Made when, gurus? Thanks for your help.

BTW, this is the best-feeling DA sixgun I own. I'm totally impressed, and wish I'd gotten one sooner, though I have been looking for a while.

I'd say 1985. My 4" 586 is AJY 46xx.

How are you coming up with this, Dick? According to my SCSW it should be an '85 gun. Is there something I'm missing, or am ignorant of? Looking at my SCSW there was at least one serial # prefix that appears out of sequence in 1986 (AHsomething). Do you know something about the AJY prefix that's not in the book? Any useful info is appreciated.
