586 finish issue

Anyone ever seen this before? It's not wiping off with a dry rag or using lube or Hoppe's.

Perhaps that part of the gun was not adequately de-greased before bluing. Or perhaps a rag was used to wipe it down at some point that was not quite clean (some chemical or light acid). It's a shame.
 
Could send in to S&W for re bluing might be done under warranty.
 
Negative, no hoppes #9, the gun arrived this way. I would certainly hope they would reblue it! I haven't even fired it yet, I'm going to do that first to make sure there aren't any other fleas.
 
I agree, put a couple of rounds down the pipe and send it back! Keep us posted.

I had a new one some years back where a couple of flutes looked like that,but I didn't notice it until I had shot a few hundred rounds through it.I ended up selling it
