586 Hammer removal - can't clear hand/frame

What am I doing wrong? with the trigger all the way back, I can wiggle the hammer up but either the sear goes under the hand or the firing pin is still in the frame.

I tried to "seesaw" it out based on the Kuhnhausen description but no go. Looks like the notch in the hand is not deep enough. Maybe the hand is from a later model without a hammer-mounted pin?

The picture should make it clear that this thing really needs to come apart for some TLC

If cylinder is removed from frame, push thumb release back and cock the hammer PART of the way until you find the sweet spot where the hammer will clear the frame. Should come right out.

Figured it out, just took 3 hands. Had to lift the firing pin along with positioning the hammer.
