Do they exist? I checked Safariland and as far as I can tell, they don't make one for the 7 shot.

HKS and 5-Star are both of the twist-knob release - which, while faster than loading singly or from a speed-strip, is not as fast as the spring-loaded speed loaders like Safariland Comp III's and Jetloaders (neither of which make a loader for the 7-shot L-frame).

Google Speed Beez speedloaders. They make a 7-shot L-frame loader that appears to be spring-loaded (no personal experience). Or get your cylinder cut for moon clips.

Adios,

Pizza Bob

Thanks for the suggestions. The gun came with 2 moon clips but the rounds are kinda floppy in them which is why I asked about a speed loader. I guess certain brass doesn't mix well with certain clips so I guess I'll play around with different ammo.

Federal/Speer works best with the majority of moon clips. The rounds are supposed to be a little loose anyway. Just go to revolversupply.com and they will take care of you. Call them and they will set you up with the right moon clips. 38/357 comes in 3 different thicknesses.

Moons are much better than speedloaders. Once you use moons, you won't go back. I have over a dozen S&W revolvers. Just about all of them are cut for moon clips. For defensive use, nothing is faster than moon clips. As fast as loading a semi-auto pistol.

I haven't used moon clips before but they seem like a lot of trouble with the use of the tool. I'm sure I could learn with practice. BUT...

CAN you use speedloaders for the 586 L Comp? If so, which are best?

Moonclips work best with the shorter 6-shot 45's or 9mm's. The longer .357's on a flexible 7-round clip take extra concentration for alignment. The speedloaders are rigid and easier for me to reload.

The seven shot HKS is the 587-A.
