Howdy,

Took ownership of several revolvers from my FIL recently, one of which was a Model 586-7. I mistook it at first glance for a Model 19 Carry Comp, but realized after picking it up and looking at it that it is indeed a 586-7 from the model number on the frame.

This model has a 6 shot cylinder, not the 7 round. I cannot find really anything on a 6 shot variant of the L Comp, only the 7 shot.

Can anyone advise if the 6 shot variant was a first production thing? I’m not bothered that it holds one less, more so that when I look it up it’s listed as a 7 shot.

TIA.

Also, photo for fun:

I happen to be a huge fan of the L-Comp. I think I got my first one 25 years ago. Terrific firearms

You do not mention if your Father-in-Law was the original owner of the firearm or not.

The first thought that comes to mind is perhaps somebody had the cylinder changed to convert it back to a 6 shot

Is the currently installed cylinder cut for moon clips?

Apologies.

Original owner.

The cylinder is cut for moon clips.
