I just traded my RIA 1911 .45 ACP for a 586 no dash all original.

Although the 1911 is a nice looking gun I would do that trade if I didn't have a 586...especially an early one. I'm sure you're happy with the trade and we will wait for a range report.

Now keep that 586 and go get another! :)

You did well in that trade. I've put thousands of rounds through my 686 and enjoy it more each time I use it. It carries well in a high riding holster. I still have the original wood grips for mine, but it sports a Pachmyre wrap around grip.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.

The only thing I wish were different on it would be a longer cylinder so I could load 180 and 200 grain bullets for NRA Pistol Silhouette competition, but that's what I have my Contender in .357 Mag for.

You did great! Trade a gun that's in half of the gun stores for one that hasn't been made for awhile (no lock at least).

I saw a 98% 6" 586 no dash in a local pawn shop for $799. I told them it was pretty unlikely some schlub off the street would pay that but a real connoisseur might...still kind of high though.

I don't know When the next will be when I go to the range. I want a model 66 snub for carry. I feel too bad to carry my nickel 19-4 snub. Here is all of my revolvers and one I used to have. They are a 681 4", 586 4"

, 686-6+(sold) and 19-4 snub nickel.

You definitely got the better end of that deal. Didn't you feel bad for the other guy?

Kinda. He told me he didn't want to get rid of it. It wasn't an even trade. I traded him $120 plus 300 rounds of .45. So I think it was even on those pretenses.

Doesn't look as good now, but at least you got the nicer hardware. Enjoy it.
