I had a really nice 686-3 6" that I sold for $700 6 years ago. Sold to a dealer at a gun show. Great shooter! Depending on condition would say it is a decent price. Bob

If by "good" you mean a lot of honest wear (used but not abused) and mechanically excellent, I would guess a fair price would be $500-$700, depending on what region of the country you are in. In NW Louisiana, that price would not be out of the ordinary.

I paid $875.00 for this one last year. It's an early no dash with a target hammer, wide, grooved target trigger, and a Patridge front sight. It's an unusual, if not rare configuration. The combat stocks came on it as well. It showed no signs of use and the finish is beautiful. I sold the stocks because they're not for me, so I have about $650.00 in it now. I never felt that I overpaid, even at the original price, and especially in this market.

I would say that was a great deal you made.

I'd say $600-$650 would be a good deal if it is mechanically sound, no rust, just worn bluing from holster wear, and no excessive barrel forcing cone erosion/top strap erosion. Now I'm sure someone is going to come along in the next post or two and talk about the NIB one they bought for $400... twelve years ago, but I'm speaking of today's inflation adjusted market.

Ha. These types of post make me chuckle. "What's the value?" The value is what someone is willing to pay for something. If I'm a buyer, I may think the value is $500. If I'm the seller, I may think the value is $1000. What I usually do is go to gunbroker and search thru the "sold items". Try to find something that closely resembles what I have and go from there. Hope that helps.
