I bought a 5904 a while back to go with my NIB one . I got it cheap for a reason , the rear sight . The seller didn't want to mess with it and I knew the parts were available . Someone cranked the sight up and there's no screw head to be seen . I'm adding some pics so you'll know what I mean . If anyone can help with disassembly I would be thankful . Right after I bought it I ordered new parts so I have those . Thanks

Schematic of the sight is shown here. The plungers (at the front and on each side) are spring loaded, so you might want to put the assembly in a clear bag as you take it apart. The windage nut is staked in place, so it won't come out when turned. The screw that secures the base plate is not visible, until the sight assembly is removed. Looks like your elevation screw may be gone.

That's a fantastic view! I'll bet that gets to the heart of it!

Thanks armorer951 ! I'll dig out the parts I ordered and see If the elevation screw will go in on it's own . If I have to take it apart , what are the steps ?

Steps? Kind of like defusing a bomb.......free the spring loaded plungers at the sides of the sight base and the assy will lift out.

Put slide in clear bag. Use the end of a flat punch (brass if you have one) to push in on the plungers on each side of the assembly, while moving the sight body back and up in the sight base. Keep the ends of your fingers over the area of the plunger hole to prevent the liberated plunger from flying off. If one gets away, it will likely still be inside the plastic bag anyway.
