"Series" indicates all the generations.

That's a term that used to be used. Perhaps not lately.

Not to start a pissing match, but.....
I used "series" in my post.

You did not. You only said "39/59" doesn't that leave out all other models?

Passing Thoughts

I have been in law enforcement 40+ years and we carried the 4516 as a service pistol for 10 years. Officers were taught to drop their mags as a last resort in the event they were in danger of losing possession of the weapon in a struggle. I'm aware of 2 incidents that probably saved an officer from being shot.

As members of a county sheriff's office backup was minutes away at best. Even today we have 1 car patrolling a rural area of 200 sq miles.

It was common in the 1970's for magazine safeties to be removed by officers who didn't like the option. I wouldn't do it today to avoid a legal controversy.

I enjoy this forum, but seldom post because there is always someone waiting to pounce on anyone they perceive as having an opinion. The subject of this thread learned a painful lesson. I don't see much benefit to verbal beatings.

We should all be reminded of the need for proper safety procedures. As an instructor I have witnessed more than one "inadvertent discharge" on the range despite constant safety briefings. It is never funny and it should never happen, but when you spend most of your time on the range bad things can happen.

Peace to all who go in harms way.

PS - My first service weapon was a 4" M28 and I loved it.
