5906 Mag Well

The S&W PC 5906 magwell will not fit a standard 3rd Gen 5906 or 4006 without some precise milling cuts to the grip backstrap of the frame. See photos 1, 2, 3 & 4 comparing the PC frame and the standard frame. If you have a PC 3566, 4004 or 5906, the only fitting required is to fit the tabs on the magwell into the space between the grip pin holes and drill out holes in the tabs for the grip pin. This requires precise skill inorder to keep the magwell tight against the frame.

5906 IDPA with Mag Well

Hey Red Cardinal, how's this look?

I was able to install a mag well on my 5906 IDPA. I did have to drill out the holes myself and do just a little, lite filing.

I had plans to install on another pistol but it didn't have the cut to accept the mag well. The 5906 did and things worked out.

I have an extra I bought from the Performance Center many years ago. I had it on one of my DPA 5906s for a while. IMO you need the DP base plates for it to work properly. Just FYI, the 4006 Tactical came with a cut down version that would work without the DP base plates.

Small magwell

I know this is an old thread but does anyone have the length of the "carry" shorter magwell and a good pic of it ?

Here's the short mag well on my Tactical .40. It is 3/16th's of an inch deep.
