Are there any interchangeable mags that will fit the 5906 from some of the other models? 2nd question; it has wrap around grips. I have a pair of what appear to be 59 grips. will they fit on the 5906 and if so how does one get the wrap arounds off? There are no screws.
THanks

Im fairly sure all 59 series mags; 1st, 2nd, and 3rd generation are interchange, whether they are; 10, 14, 15, 17, or 20 rounds and so on, TDA, DAO, DCO should not matter. The grips come off 3rd gens buy pushing out the grip pin, and then putting a tool through the hole in the bottom of the grip, and pushing up on the main spring cup gently, move the grip back and down a little gently, when the tension is released the spring and cup should come free, at that point then take the grip the rest the way off, key word is gently. Dont know if 1st, 2nd, 3rd gen grips are interchangeable but i don't think so but i don't know. Hope this helps.

Your 59 grips will not work on the 5906.

Just as I suspected, there is no backstrap other than the grip. Guess it's better to just leave it alone. Will try CDNN. Thanks to all for the good info.

A good buddy of mine on the forum is looking for 5906 mags. I tried to be of assistance and have found that they have dried up for some reason, affordable ones at least! CDNN is out as is several other sources. If anyone knows of a current source for used, good condition mags please post it. There should be a load of them somewhere! Thanks.

Midway is always worth a try. I just bought some new 3913 mags on sale for $30 each instead of the normal $ 41.

Any 5900 series magazine will work. I bought a bunch of them on Gunbroker about a month ago.

I purchased 2 used 5906 mags from Mark at summitgunbroker.com for $18 per mag a few weeks ago. They were 14 round mags (black follower). They needed a good internal cleaning, but are good to go.

Email him for price and availability [email protected]

Jsbethel thanks for that wonderful S&W brochure on the grip removal great stuff, and +2 on the mags from Summit Gun Broker, Marks a great guy to do business with.
