took a plain old 5906 and got a bobbed hammer from a member on here just to see what it would look like.now that it is on the gun i do really like it, was not sure if i was going to or not but now the hammer does not get snagged if i pull it out of the IWB holster, has any one else done this?? i know some Police depts that did and i am tring to find out if anyone else likes it or not

Love my 5904 with a 6904 top end and a 6906 hammer.

My favorite 9mm carry piece!

I want to do it on my 4003 along with getting it converted to decock only.

Pros-it looks smooth, and you cant be sued in civil court by Joe Scumbag's family for 'negligently shooting him because of a cocked hammer'.

How much does it cost to have this done?

Interestingly enough, I want to go the other way with my S&W 3913 - it has the spurless hammer, and I'd like to replace it with the spurred hammer - mainly because I'd like to cock the hammer without racking the slide, and I'd like the ability to de-cock the hammer without using the decocker (or pinching my finger).

Your mod looks pretty nice; perhaps you should find a silver-colored trigger to match the hammer.

I'm with valkyriekl on this one. I have a 4006 with the spurless hammer and want to replace it with a spurred one, mainly for decocking purposes. I'm too fat to carry using IWB comfortably so I prefer horizontal shoulder rigs for concealed carry. The spurless hammer offers no advantage to me.

Your hammer has serrations on it. Is it a 669 hammer, so it has the half-cock notch too?

…has any one else done this??
Yup.

(p.s. had a little too much fun with photoshop, it is model marked.)

Love it. After finishing this one, I went and bought another set of parts so I can do it again to another one.

NO 1/2 cock here...my hammer was stamped 5906 only

Glad you like it. I sent you a pm on the hard chrome trigger.
The hammer did come off of a special L/E order 5906.

GAF

You might want to verify that your holster is secure with the bobbed hammer. Some holsters count on having that hammer to to keep the gun tight in place. You don't wanna have your piece subject to snatching and loss in a scuffle.

IWB holster no need for a strapping it in....it is foe CCW only

My carry guns are bobbed hammer or concealed hammer (SW640).

My only 3rd gen with a hammer spur is a 4506 and that one usually doesn't get carried.

I carry IWB with 3rd gen compact guns (4014, 3913) and with those I like the bobbed hammer a lot.

For range guns and OWB carry, I like full size guns, and in that regard I really like the full spurred hammer on my 5906. I carry the 5906 OWB in a Galco holster ahich has the thumb strap, and the full spur hammer is never an issue. I carry the compact guns in TT Gunleather IWB holsters.
