5946 Grips

HELLO, ALL!!! This is my first post on any forum EVER. I'm a little nervous. I have a question about my S&W 5946 (9mm) in regard to a rubberized grip. Basically, I want one.....a lot. My Daddy (who was a Green Beret in Nam and has been a weapons lover for 50 years) told me to get a PACHMAYR grip. He said Pachmayr is as good as it gets. Any suggestions, please? Thank you!!!

In regard to rubber grips for the 5900 series the only ones currently available are Hogues. They will add a decent amount of thickness over the stock grips but they will reduce some of the recoil. However for about $25.00 you could try them if you're set on rubber grips. Like most of the 3rd Generation accessories the Pachmayr grips have long since gone out of production. Some other rubber grips for the 5900 series were Uncle Mikes and Farrar.
Nice pistol by the way. Full size, Double Action Only in stainless.

Try ebay for those grips and do a general search for S&W Pachmayr grips, there are plenty of grips on there for the model 59. Not to mention try looking for the ones mentioned above. Also there's always wood!

For the 3rd Gen S&Ws, I think Hogue is the way to go.

Try a slip on rubber sleeve. A few companies make them hogue, pachmyer etc. The rubber grips your dad is referring to will add Alot of thickness. Im not a big guy with huge hands and my 5946 came with them and they were just too big. Don't be nervous, we are a good group of gun nuts lol

With all due respect for your father and his service, his firearms advice seems to be about 25-30 years behind the times. I don't even know how Pachmayr is still in business. Until they came out with the recent tactical grip glove slip on's, they were way behind on the product development curve.

Welcome to the club. Yeah, I'd say Pachmayr used to be the bee's knees. At first they were advanced, but after that they didn't do a whole lot that was new. I will say I have a pair of rubber Pachmayr grips on my 686 that ain't much on looks, but they sure do soak up the recoil. It may say something that about the time my 686 came out, S&W started selling guns with Hogue grips as standard.
