I was looking up some parts (window shopping) at JoeBob Outfitters and saw advertised 5moa scope rails and then underneath the next item was 20moa scope rails. If you wonder I was looking at 10-22 (another black hole rifle) parts. I like to stay well informed but this one threw me for a loop. They were both Picatinney Rails so I am now confused. Please help!!:confused::confused:

the advertisement for the 20 said that 40 yards was as close as you could sight with a scope I always sight to 50 anyway, so I was really lost...gimmick makes sense

Sorry. Have no clue what the practical difference between the rails.

I do understand the 10-22 black hole. I have one. Just don't go to the site below, or else your wallet will be lighter.

Pete worked on my bolt and jeweled it. Can't say enough good things about his work.

The 20moa rail is for shooting 600&1000 yards! If you were to adjust a target scope without the rail the crosshair would be at the top of the lens. The rail allows you to be on target at long range and the crosshairs will still be ( appoximately) in the center of the lens and the 5 moa rail rail would probably do well at 4-500 yards.

I could see that for some rifles but this was listed for a 10-22 that kinda threw me, but thank you very much, now when I see them for the AR's I understand better.

JaPes.....My sport has already emptied my wallet, nothing else to get, My new 10-22 (i just traded a savage 93r17 youth model for it and some cash for reloading supplies) is the Mannlicher Stocked Model, I did the trigger job on it the other night. Got it from my 1000yrd nephew, good way to get him to practice with a scope plus since my Sport I hadnt even taken it out of its case. Being the Mannlicher I wont be modifying it as much (yeah right) at least not right now. Until I find all the tactical parts cheap LOL

I have one of the S&W M&P 15-22 and I really don't think they are a gimmick. It is just a fun gun for me here in Pa. because we can't use them to hunt with. I have a lot of fun with it and it is a lot cheaper to shoot than my M&P 15 in .223.

I am sorry, I didnt mean to sound like a firearm was a gimmick. I was referring to a 20 MOA rail on a 10-22, I could so see having it for my Sport. But on my .22 when I reach out further than say 125 yards, I feel lucky to make the hit. I dont believe I will be shooting my .22 400 to 1000 yards
