6” 28-2

You sure it's not a M28-2? That was the Highway Patrolman model. At any rate the SN puts it around 1981-82, as the dash-3 started in 1982 on the M27 and M28.

My bad the title had 28-2 and I typo the post. I believe it is made well before 1980 since all the original paperwork shows print dates before that. The oldest print date is 03-67

That was my bad on the date, I thought I saw 6 digits. Nice looking revolver, but unlikely those are original stocks unless they were special ordered. M28 standard stocks were walnut magnas.

Nice deal ccody for a nice condition N!

Local gun store, private seller or smash n grab?

$700 is very good. Better than I did a couple of years ago for a pretty much equally decent looking 6" with the (IMHO) too small and ugly Magna grips on it.

Bought a 6" 28-2 Highway Patrol .357 with original box and grips. SN N936xx. Paid $700 out the door.

Very nice. Especially with box and original stocks, that is an outstanding deal. I picked this one up about a year ago for $750, IIRC. No box, but the grips, though not original, are really nice;)

They now reside on my early Model 57.

I have found you can find mistakes and incorrect prices at the big box stores. Bought a couple well below market value. No way that is happening at my local gun shop with 70 year old owner in the biz his whole life.

You got a steal on that one. Congrats! The 28-2 is one of my two N-Frames and it is a good one. I bought it for $750 with no box or papers and Pachmayr grips. I found a decent box and some other accesories on Ebay and added the wood grips.

My local Cabela's had it. I was in the day they bought it and when I looked at it I told them to put my name on it. Then I came in the next morning to do the paperwork since they can't sell it until it is officially in their inventory the next day..
Cabela's gave you a deal like that? Will wonders never cease?
You done good!

cmdrcody, that's a very nice Model 28-2 Highway Patrolman you got there. Congratulations on the purchase. I like the 6" barrel HP's. That's sure enough a good price from Cabela's.

I have a 6" barrel Model 28-2 HP with the original box and components. Mine has the football cut out targets (black washer) and a .400" smooth semi-target trigger and the box reflects the option. My gun is serial # N453XX and I have not lettered the gun. The SCSW catalog says somewhere between 1969 and 1972.
