I purchased a 6.5" .500 magnum and took it out this weekend and was only able to fire 2 rounds both rounds would not let me open the cylinder or eject the rounds without taping the case out with a punch. The rounds were Armscor 300gr hollow points I purchased for range use, the case didn't expand it seems that the powder is blowing back into the cylinder causing the case to seize in the cylinder. When I tried to open the cylinder it left a big scratch across the spent primer and case. I have never fired a 500magnum before so I have nothing to reference the recoil to other than my Ruger SRH .44mag 7.5" which seems sharper and heavier than the .500. If anyone has any ideas please share thanks in advance for your help.

If you had powder fouling on the outside of the brass then the powder charge is way too low

The scratch along the primer indicated that the firing pin was still sticking through the recoil shield

Take a look at that firing pin, if it is not sticking out see if you can push on the pin(with the cylinder open and the hammer cocked) . You may have broken firing pin spring

Normally this would be an indication of excessive pressure if the spent case was free of residue/debris. Was it?

Did you actually see unburnt powder in the chamber? How much & where?

When I tried to open the cylinder it left a big scratch across the spent primer and case.

An unusually low pressure round would cause the primer to contact the frame breech because there wasn't enough rearward case thrust to reset the primer back in the pocket.

That would leave a scrap on the primer but not the case.

What did the primer look like? Was it severely flattened or rounded looking, &/or sticking out from the case?

If your 44 Magnum revolver had more recoil than the 300gr 500 Magnum that is suspicious. I certainly think the 500 would if it was loaded properly.

The outside of the case was covered in unburnt powder residue on one side, I've tried to upload photos but apparently I'm not tech savvy enough I will continue to try. Thank you all for your help I appreciate it.
