S&W introduced 30 Super Carry. How about a 30 Super Carry J-frame SixShot in that caliber in alloy and all steel choices.

A 327 Magnum would be a better choice in a revolver.

In a lightweight snubby 9mm is surprisingly unpleasant to shoot, same would be true of 30 SC.

The 30 SC is a high pressure cartridge with similar recoil and sharper muzzle blast than 9mm. In an alloy J-frame recoil would be sharp and the short barrel and cylinder gap would make it louder. Unless you reload your own self defense ammo there is no such thing as 30 SC lite ammo. With 327 you could shoot 32 H&R Magnum or even 38 S&W if the recoil and muzzle blast were too much for you or your wife to shoot it well. If I owned a 12 ounce scandium frame 327 it would probably be loaded with 32 H&R. A heavier steel frame gun would probably be loaded with 327 ammo.

With 30 SC you also have to deal with moon clips and the possibility of crimp jump.

I’d be happy if they made another 9mm jframe

I like my 940 a lot. No issues with shootibility. A little stout, but it has to be better than a .357.

As to .30 SC, I believe the issue will be the pressure. The .30 SC max pressure is 52,000. That's screaming compared to the 9mm at 38,500 for 9mm +P, 45,000 for the .327 Fed Mag, 35,000 for .357 Mag, and 20,000 for .38 Spl +P (all PSI numbers). With a J-frame, I don't know how you can safely contain six rounds with that pressure, especially in alloy.

I agree with making a 6 shot 327 magnum, but only a centennial sans lock. No need for moon clips.

I have 2 alloy J frame 32 H&Rs, one with a cylinder reamed to fire 327 Federal mag. Interesting, loud, pretty snappy recoil. I can't imagine either the frames or people being able to handle more. Plus, there is a point of diminishing returns using 2" barrels. Even though the one handles the 327 fine, I now carry 32 H&R in both because I can get back on target faster and if I do my part I do not believe the initial gain is going to make a big difference. A good hit with the H&R is more effective than a marginal one with the 327.
