Great idea you have there. I'd love to have a mountain gun that could shoot 10mm and 40s&w. I've though of 357/9mm, but the difference in diameter would be an accuracy hinderance.

I'd also like to see a mountain gun version that had fixed sights and square butt, like the 22-4, in each of the major N-frame calibers (357mag, 10mm, 41mag, 44special, 44mag, 45acp, and 45colt. If it didn't have the lock, and did have a hammer mounted firing-pin it would be even better, but I wouldn't complain either way. An N-frame fixed sight square butt revolver is as close to perfection as I can think of. If it came in a 2 cartridge version, like 10mm/40s&w, all the better.

The 610 mountain gun with no lock is at the top of my S&W wish list.

why didn't I think of that

610, forged steel parts, hammer mounted firing pin, taper barrel 3 7/8", round butt....in 10mm or 10mm Magnum? You could fire all 3 rounds (correct me if I am wrong)...I have never seen a 10mm Magnum, but hear that it is a longer case....that would be sweet! :D

i don't know alot about the 10mm magnum but what i have seen about it that it has alot more energy then the 10mm and a longer case then the 10mm auto

10mm Magnum

I found a PDF detailing the 10mm Magnum...highest velocity listed was ~1900 fps

Gotta love them wildcats! I wonder if the 610 frame could hold it all together. Says that it is comparable to 44 magnum pressures, but I do not know:confused:

10mm MAGNUM
This proprietary cartridge was developed
for Irwindale Arms, Inc. for use in
their auto loading pistol.
The 10mm Magnum could be thought
of as a rimless .401 Power Mag, if anyone
should happen to remember Herter’s proprietary
revolver and cartridge. Both cartridges
approximate the .41 Magnum in
power.
This cartridge is a lengthened 10mm Auto and is loaded to pressure levels similar to the
.44 Magnum for use in the IAI handguns

Gun IAI Max Length 1.255"
Barrel Length 8" Trim Length 1.245"
Primer CCI 300 OAL Max 1.555"
Case STARLINE OAL Min 1.500"

I have the original pdf, but it is too big to upload...see it here:

i think the 610 frame will hold with the 10mm Magnum its a n frame iam sure its nomore powerful then a 44 magnum
