This is why you can shoot all the shorter ammunition in the revolver. Like shooting 9MM or 380ACP from one of the 38SUPER Model 627s
Now perhaps 95% of the time, the 10MM Auto Case will rest on the edge of the chamber throat of a modern Smith and Wesson revolver and fire. This is not a design feature of the revolver, it is just happenstance
I rechamber all of my 610/310 revolvers for the 10MM Magnum cartridge. That allows me to chamber and shoot 10MM Magnum, 10MM Auto and 40S&W.
