617 here - Finally

Got back from vacation yesterday and my lgs had finally located a new 4" 617 for me. Picked it up this morning and cleaned it up. Will take some pics shortly and post here. Hope to take it out this weekend. Will post range report.

Very nice 617, I'm sure that you are going to enjoy it. As far as combat grips, I'm a huge fan of Hogue wood grips.

Gotta love those 617's. I've got a 6" and smile every time I squeeze that trigger. It deserves to be shot outdoors because you can plink at 100 yards with it. It's just plain fun.

Took the 617 out this morning. Performed flawlessly. A few FTF's directly attributable to the Remington Golden I had left over from previous times. Another handgun I had with me had the same problem with the Remingtons. Maybe a total of 4 out of a hundred or so. This revolver is smooth, comfortable, accurate and a joy to shoot. Not to mention relatively inexpensive to shoot comparatively speaking. Another great S&W added to the family.

If you want a great grip, try Ahrend's Retro Targets. Mine was ordered unfinished - and sports several soaks of my homebrew oil finish, has the HiViz SW617 front sight, and has a DS-10 Speedloader shown with it. A great way to run through bricks of .22 ammo!

Great buy, any way you look at it - a 10X 617!

They are Smith and Wesson factory smooth combats. I find they fit my hand pretty nice on the K/L frame guns.
