I bought a new 617 couple or 3 years ago. Due to health reasons, only now getting to use it. It has circumferential grooves in the chambers, all 10 as if done on purpose. It seems to shoot alright and no trouble with ejecting fired cases. Does anyone know if this is now normal? I do like it.

I've never looked at mine, so I can't say if it's "normal" or not.

But if it works perfectly, I would think "don't monkey with it." :D

It ejects fine. I own a 17 and have owned 2 other 17s. They were all smooth and polished smooth. No sweat long as it works. Just seems odd to me.

Apon closer inspection, and after its first cleaning. My 617-6 does have some lines or grooves in each chamber right about where the bullet would protrude from that casing. Certainly not any "perfectly cut wear marks." My 617 is brand new.

This would be my approach. My 617 -1 was made in 1996, it's a 6 shot version. I wouldn't say that the chambers are grooved, but they are not perfectly smooth either. Mine shoots fine and as long as yours ejects spent casings fine and shoots ok I wouldn't be concerned with it.
