I had a dash 10 with a cracked frame. Check carefully.
Not uncommon, but it's apples and oranges comparing it to a 625 Mountain Gun. The .45 Colt Mountain Guns have stainless steel frames. The 625-10 was a Performance Center fixed sight .45 ACP, with an aluminum alloy frame, a short cylinder and a long barrel extension projecting back into the frame window. I had one and the frame cracked while I was shooting. I spotted another at a show and it had a cracked frame too. I suspect that long barrel extension put a lot of force on the alloy frame.

I paid $750 for my .45 Colt 625-7 Mountain Gun and considered it a good deal. It's a great gun and an excellent cartridge, especially if you're a reloader. Factory ammo is expensive.

Here's my 625 "Mountain Gun" and I consider it worth a whole lot more than $750.

Thanks for looking at my Mountain Gun.

God bless,

If its a Pre lock thats a smoking deal. If its post lock its a pretty good deal. I would not pass up either variant at that price, I like duplicates/backups of guns I really like. My favorite 625 variant is the mountain gun, here's a better look at why. They also shoot as good as they look!

JB51, if your still around, and reading your Post, I hope
you were able to purchase that S&W Mdl 625 45Colt MG.

That is a Great price, and Great Revolver. At that Price
if I would have seen it, I would have bought it immediately.

I'm always looking for the MG 45Colt. I'm always ready to
dish out the Cash for that 45Colt or 41Rem Mag MG, depending
on Condition of course.

I paid much more than $750 for mine. It is what I wanted
and worth it for me. I Reload and Shoot mine quite often.

My 45Colt and 44Rem Mag below.
Sorry no pretty pictures from this guy.

I found my NIB 625-6 .45 Colt a couple years ago at the Big Reno Show. On Friday the seller was asking $1250; got it for $1000 on Sunday.

If it's a dash 6 I'd snag it in a heartbeat, at anything less than a grand; dash 7 and newer I'd keep walking - I already have a 25-13.

Not uncommon on both -10 (ACP) and -11 (Colt). That's why I went with good old (1917) steel.

ETA:
Pic is a repost of a 625-10 barrel in a 45 HE Model of 1917 frame that's been modded.
ETA:
And for what it is, it shoots surprisingly well.

I bought this 625-9 new in 2006.

".45 Colt" written on the barrel. :)

With the exception of 38/357, I do not care for round round butt revolvers in general, so I put some round to square non-medallion Eagle repro "Coke" conversion grips on it.

I had one of the first ones in .45 Colt. It's high on the list of guns I NEVER should have let go. I wouldn't hesitate at $750 for a no lock specimen.

I have 625-7 I bought new in 2001. It is a very accurate shooter with 8.0 grains of 231 for about 855 fps with Laser Cast 255 SWC bullets. I would not try and make a magnum out of them. It is one that will stay with me.
