were there any 625 Mountain Guns built in 45ACP with hammer mounted firing pins other than the Springfield Armory special?

I don't believe so. Good question though. I have two 625-6 Mountain guns, one in 45 ACP, and the other is 45 Long Colt. Both are stamped 625-6. The 45 Long Colt is pre-MIM, the 45 ACP is post-MIM and pre-lock. I beleive both of these were in the first production runs of the Mountain Gun.

I'm not an expert in this area (or any other area for that matter), but in previous threads asking the same question other members have said "no" as to the .45acp MG. I have paid attention to those threads cuz I have a 625-6 .45 that looks just like the one pictured above, i.e. frame mounted firing pin.

You mean, one of these?

As near as I can tell, there weren't. However, never say never when it comes to 625s. It is a most confusing run of guns.

I also have the SAC Mountain Gun. I have not seen one like it without the markings. I'm sure some are made by putting a Mountain Gun barrel on a regular 625, but then you'd also need to chamfer the front of the cylinder.

And I finally went out and bought a Springfield Armory M1A SOCOM 16, so now my SAC revolver finally has something to commemorate.
