Hey guys, wonder if you might be able to assist me with this. So, I opened up *the book* last night to go over some of my smiths, and one of them is not accurately listed. Right now, I have a 5" 627-pc with unfluted cylinders. It is relief cut to accept full-moon clips. That being said, according to the book, this gun was only offered in the 2.75" barrel and labeled as the *ultimate defense revolver*. So, if anyone has some time to look into this, I would appreciate it.

The book shows three Performance Center 627's with the frame marked "627-PC" (2-5/8", 5" and 6-1/2"). If your serial number prefix is PMA, the product code is listed as 170116 on page 357.

That revision level (627-PC) still has the cylinder stop stud, but it has a frame mounted firing pin. I've seen photos of a 627 8 Shot UDR( Bloodwork gun ) with the frame marked 627-3 and the integral cylinder stop ledge instead of the stud.

Thanks for the info.

The one question that I have, is that my SN is not condusive to what you provided. I looked it up in the book and found it to be 1989. Correct me if I am wrong, but I didnt think the 627-PC 8shot came out until like 95.

Yours sounds like a 627-0 Model of 1989. The moonclip relief may be non-factory.

its not a -0, as it looks like any current production 627, it just has non-flutted cylinders, no-lock, gold bead patridge front sight, and factory relief cut for full moon clips. Open the crane and it says 627-PC, and a SN that the book says 1989. So, yah....I am scratching my head a little.

The engineering revision(PC) does not indicate a specific configuration. Also when the SCSW ties a specific engineering revision number to a specific configuration, it is usually where that configuration began production. The configuration might span several engineering revisions. Only the 6 digit product code clearly identifies a specific revolver configuration.

The 627 revolver that cce1302 mentions is a prime example. It began with no revision and ran through the -0, -1 and finally completed during the -2 revision.

Likewise, the variation that you are looking at could have spanned more than one engineering revision. Just as the PC engineering revision spans more than one configuration.

All three stainless steel revolvers in the photograph are model 627 engineering revision PC
