Went to a local gun show over the weekend with a friend. Found this 627-5 Performance Center snub nose and it followed me home. I think it’s going to be a lot of fun shooting this one!

Congratulations on a fantastic addition to the family

The UDR or Ultimate Defense Revolver was introduced in 1999 in the models 627, 629, and 657. At one point in time these were also referred to as PDRs or Personal Defense Revolvers

I ended up acquiring two of the 627s as well as two of the 657s back when they first were introduced

I removed the Factory supplied Secret Service grips from all of mine and put on the older Factory combats. I wish I could have found some of the really old ones that had the deeper sculpted finger grooves

Unfortunately I let a buddy of mine talk me out of one of the 627s just 6 weeks before Bloodwork hit the theaters and drove the demand (and prices) for these through the roof

When I found mine Saturday it was wearing a set of Hogue rubber grips. I have a set of the Rosewood Eagle Secret Service grips that the 627-5 ships with today. They feel a bit small even in my hand.

I went with the VZ grips because I had a set of them on a 325 Nightguard and really liked shooting with them. I attached a photo of the Eagle grips.

Nice acquisition! The PC 627-5 snub is one of my favorites, and it often rides along in the SUV or on the Harley-D. I do have a crossdraw holster that I use occasionally for CCW, but here in Florida that only happens in the cooler weather with cover garments. Mine currently wears some Crimson Trace laser stocks which I really like...but they're a little large, even larger than Hogue Recoil Tamers. I'm thinking of getting some Altamont Combats for CCW, just for the easier concealment.

Great guns, I have a pair: one new and a 2nd from consignment. I 'm not a fan of the unfluted cylinder, would prefer cylinder flutes like on the Eastwood "Bloodwork" gun. Adds too much weight and looks like a water heater tank. This gun occasionally made appearances on "Breaking Bad" series gunfights. And no, the muzzle flash/blast is not intolerable. Everybody needs one of these!;)

The one I have is my all time favorite 357. I also have the Crimson Trace grips on mine. They fit my hands well and no slipping. I cut off the back edge and filled the spot with black RTV.
I have used it for short barrel matches with a red dot. I carry IWB when I feel like being sure I'm well served. I also polished the cylinder, I like it clean and it was showing cleaning wear so I polished it and now it's as it should be. I love it.
