so i know the 627 pro series is cut for moonclips, but if you load each chamber individually without moonclips is there any extra risk of light strikes on the primers due to lack of moonclips when firing?

I bought mine new and have never had a light strike while shooting either with moonclips or without.

However, because its intended use is for self-defense I did go ahead and put in a longer firing pin... even though I never had a problem with the stock one.

YMMV

There shouldn't be any difference, although cut for moon clips there is enough of a ledge left on the cylinder to allow the round to still reference off the rim.

If you decide to lighten the DA trigger pull you would be advised to install the Apex or C&S extra length firing pin.

Concerning that you may want to refer to my recent post on my new 625JM, Cylinder & Slide is now shipping firing pins that are long enough that I would be concerned with a pierced primer if the action hasn't been tuned to a lighter pull prior to installing the longer firing pin.

Quite simply, don't install these firing pins UNTIL you've lightened the trigger to the point where light strikes become an issue. Installing them in a revolver with a factory mainspring setup could have you trying to free a firing pin stuck in a primer.
