I bought a 627 V-Comp yesterday and was able to fire 60 (thrilling) .357 rounds through it.

I live in NJ and have been waiting 9 weeks for additional handgun permits, therefore I can not take this baby home yet.

Any NJ resident will know we are at a disadvantage for timing our purchases when the "price is right" and the "wallet is full".

So this wasn't an impulse purchase but certainly much earlier than I would have liked. I did review it for the past month, but didn't have time to do my normal deep-diligence on it.

I am hoping current owners of this firearm are available to discuss it. I had a few casings split after 55 rounds. Probably the ammo sold to me by the range, but I don't know.

Any way it is an amazing firearm and I enjoyed every round (well except the split casings lol). Loads were "Magtech Sport Ammunition 357 Magnum 158 Grain Semi-Jacketed Soft Point"

Beautiful revolver! Your unfortunate situation as a NJ resident is regrettable. Hopefully the needed permits will soon arrive. No idea about the split cases. If the ammunition was reloaded using previously fired brass, possibly the split cases were simply work hardened from resizing/firing cycle. Would not be concerned. If occurs with factory new ammunition, contact S&W.

Austin, was the ammo factory new? Or reloads sold by the store. If factory new I can't imagine a reason for splitting other than out of spec chambers which would necessitate a trip back the the factory - probably could be done before you can take it home.

Please let us know - I'm looking at adding one to the collection but if there are issues in this run I may wait for the next one.

PetertheFish, I plan on running a few rounds though it again on Friday with brass ammo, the "Magtech Sport Ammunition 357 Magnum 158 Grain Semi-Jacketed Soft Point" was nickel (cause? don't know).
Will keep you all posted.
Thanks for the input. I would usually be concerned about a factory retrofit, but I feel confident with Smith-Wesson, one of the reasons I wanted to purchase this firearm.

I'm happy to say "it was the ammo". Fired 100 rounds of brass and zero problems !!! "The Lesson"?.....buy "Smith & Wesson" (and good ammo).
