What are my options for a new front site for a 627 V-comp. The plain black front site is hard on my eyes, and I am looking for something easier to pick out. Any help is appreciated.

Cheers

The V-comp PC guns use a 3/8" dovetail front sight which makes finding a suitable replacement almost impossible. You can get the various forms of rifle sights with a 3/8" dovetail but none are pistol-specific partridge or ramped sights; they usually have a wider base that tapers to a round fiber optic or gold bead which looks like a golf ball on a tee.

I currently have my front sight (partridge) painted with red enamel model paint which works just fine and do so with most of my pistols. If you really want a fiber optic front sight, you can have your front sight milled and drilled and have a fiber optic rod installed. Mark Hartshorne of Pinnacle Performance (in PA) does this for less than $30.

I did give this some serious consideration for my V-comp and called S&W to order some extra partridge blades, but was told they only have the ramped variety and did not plan on making available the partridge style anymore.

At this point, I'm having Mark install a Weigand interchangeable front sight base on my gun. This will then fit the variety of quick-change front sight blades available for the S&W revolvers.

Hope this helps.

Many of the PC revolvers use a Millett front sight. I don't know why they did it this way. I don't believe Millett is even in business anymore. I replaced the Millett sights with a S&W Patridge sight on my Carry Comp & 646. Other that the rifle sights that was mentioned previously, there aren't many options.
