Hi,

I was trying to date my 629-1 using the SCSW, but I don't see how the prefix fits into the list in the book. Could someone shed some light where my serial number fits into the list ANNxxxx?

Thanks

Welcome! The prefix is probably from 1986, but do you happen to have the original box?

If you have the box check the "Spec. Ord." number. This is usually the Julian or "Ordinal" date the gun was originally "put up" or assembled. The first digit is the last of the year the gun was made, and the last 3 the day of the year. You do need to have an idea what decade the gun is from though.

Example, 6160 would be the 160th day (June 9) of 1986 in your case.

Thanks for the replies.

The SW prefix codes need a secret decoder ring if you don't have the boxes.

6059 (.44) - March 1, 1986
6260 (.41) - September 17, 1986

Without the boxes this can be confusing.
