So I have have this 629-1 .44 and it shoots great no issues at all, then got to reading about barrels not aligned and so forth. I contacted Smith & Wesson by e-email and sent a couple pics and their response was that they don't go by the alignment of the barrel to the frame serrations but if I want to send it in for further inspection They will take a look. Again it shoots fine...should I just leave it alone or see if it can be aligned ? I'm no engineer or rocket scientist but I do understand that maybe from the factory this thing is torqued to specs ??? just not perfectly aligned with the frame top. See pics...thanks in advance.

That one is too far over. I would just find a local revo smith and have them tweak it back. It's maybe a 10 or 15 minute job, including setup.

It visually looks to be a little off to the left, but I would be more concerned if the rear sight is centered? If it is, I would leave it as is. If it is way over, compensating for the front, then I would have the barrel centered by a local smith.

Unless there is an issue with adjusting the sights to obtain a correct point of impact on the target, I'd leave it alone. Yes, that barrel was not fitted as well as it should have been, but unless there is a problem, no need in potentially creating a problem.

If it bothers you just get a frame wrench and vice and turn it back (loosen) a small amount. That is how you adjust lateral point of impact on a fixed sighted revolver . Should still be plenty tight.

I have had a couple like that, it drove my anal retentive mind crazy.

After I got it back for a new barrel, my 500's shroud was clocked too much as well. The Performance Center did their best shaping the lines to hide the asymmetry. They even leveled the front sight ramp. I am completely satisfied with as such however because I have grown to like it, but most importantly the action feels like paraffin and it has got to be as accurate as any other 3.5" barrel out there (gallon jugs at 90 yards off-hand).

However with yours, you would have to get used to the frame to barrel assembly boundary, as it has distinguished lines that over-highlights the difference.
