My friend at work is selling a 629-1 3inch barrel for $825 , he said it has combat grips and the serial number starts with awf so I don't think its a Lew Horton can any one tell me if that is for sure ?
Also he said there are less of the 3" non Lew Horton and they are harder to find , that made me kind of chuckle , could this be true ?
What's a fair price for a no box , pristine 629-1 3 inch non Lew Horton with combat grips ?

Thanks for any help
Regards MT

At the rate pre-lock N frames are climbing, especially the desirable 3", it's worth a lot more than $825 with or without the box. I see competition for them around a grand all the time. I'd jump on it. If it's not your thing, wait a month and it will be worth another hundred ; )

I have four 3-inch M629-1's in my s/n collection. Though only one is noted as a Lew Horton, they all have the exact same product code: 103610. They were all outfitted the same: combat stocks, red ramp, target hammer, and target trigger. They were made from 1986 to 1987. Just because only one was specifically noted as a LH doesn't mean the other three weren't. Maybe they were, maybe they weren't. The fact that they all have the same product code tells me they were all identical, irregardless of which wholeseller might of ordered them or distributed them. Not everything LH sold was a unique one-of-a-kind product. Sometimes they sold ordinary catalog items, just like everyone else.

Great opportunity, go for it!

I wish I had Jim Cramer's "buy buy buy" button to push.

Someday I'll have a 3" 629... and it'll be glorious.

Get that FAST. I was outbid on several three-inch 629-1s lately on Gunbroker. All went for more than $1300 (with combats, no box). Since then I've stopped bidding and they keep selling. That is a very desirable model right now - and quite a fun one, too. GET IT.

I ended up buying it for $800 it's got the best looking set of combat grips I've seen in awhile.
It does need a good cleaning tho , lots of powder build up around the cylinder and frame but looks good other then that.
