My 629-4 3" Backpacker is one of my favorites.
I've owned this fine revolver for years and it's my constant companion when I'm outdoors. It's an excellent shooter!

I usually load it with WWB 240-gr softpoints. Excellent all-around load.

Not long ago, I purchased a Guides Choice holster for it. I have not had a chance to put it to the test yet, but it is a well-made holster and I expect it will hold up to years of use.

I've seen a few just like yours. They were all -4's made in the March to September of 1994 time frame. Product code was 130450, and I believe the Hogue grips are original.

What's your s/n?

The Guides Choice chest holster IMHO is of the finest quality leather and craftsmanship out there. It is the only holster I use for my 629 5 inch barrel while shed antler hunting in the grizzly bear country just North of Yellowstone Park. By the way, very nice gun.

Sidewinder;
Montana is where I would love to live. Beautiful country and lots of room for shooting S&W revolvers!
How about a photo of that 5" 629 and your Guides Choice?

I have a 5" 629-5 too. They're nice!

Will try to get a picture posted. I will have to admit that sometimes I would like to have a little shorter barrel on my 629 but love the 5. Yes we are very lucky to live here in Big Sky country.

What could there be, to not absolutely, positively love that???

Mod29, that is one nice gun/holster combination, you are a fortunate gun owner.

Thanks, Kid. I am indeed lucky. I found this revolver after a long search and bought it sight-unseen. No regrets, the revolver was truly as-advertised, NIB and exactly what I was looking for.

It does not have magna-porting, and that was important to me.
The fact it's a 629-4 makes it extra sweet.

It is a serious flame-thrower; full-house loads will get your attention!

Up your game and load some 250 ~ 265g cast SWC.

They'll move faster than copper and be equally devastating if not more so.

I shoot 265g Lyman 429244 over 22g W296 in mine.

Nice roscoe and rig. :)
