The Ozarks has some of the most scenic hiking in the south. Daisy and I hike as often as we can and we have some favorite hiking trails that are close by. Like most hikers I have my day backpack loaded out and always ready to go loaded with gear based on experience with as many necessities as feasible but keeping weight and space in mind. Sometimes I run across a new awesome piece of gear that looks like it needs to go in my backpack, but after carrying it around a trip or two it gets culled out to save weight or space for the next new gee-whiz item.

Believe it or not, Daisy has her own pack that I carry in the truck when we hike. She doesn't actually wear the pack on the hike, but it's what I keep gear in that's specific to her. I always make sure she has plenty of water on the hike as well as when we get back to the truck, and I've used several different types of collapsible bowls and such that I can pour water into out of a canteen or water bottle. Interestingly, my youngest son came for a visit recently and brought Daisy a new fangled water bowl that he made on this 3-D printer. The bowl is in the shape of a USGI 1 quart canteen and it holds a standard 16oz water bottle by removing the lid from the bottle and screwing it into the bowl. The bowl has a screw in lid that is used to synch down the water bottle when carrying so it doesn't work loose.

Daisy seemed to like it so I'm going to stow it in her pack and see how it works out.
