I bought mine new in April, 1995, S/N BSR9976. Yep, blue plastic case. Also came with Hogue rubber stocks.

superglide,

Look on your box label. What's the ......

1) s/n?

2) Spec. Ord. number?

3) Product Code?

S&W began using, what I call, the 1st generation blue plastic case with standard production guns in 1993. The transition lasted over a year, so the one-piece cardboard box was being used simultaneously.

A Mountain Gun made in 1993-1995 could be in a one-piece box or a blue plastic case. Before 1993 MG's were in 1p boxes.

The Performance Center had their own blue plastic case that goes back to the late '80's. The one-piece cardboard box continue to be used used on a limited bases, here and there, well into the 2000's.

The original 625 Mountain Guns came in the S&W Blue Cardboard Style Box, but they were available much earlier than the 629 Mountain Gun, which I actually am not familiar with.
