Just picked up a 629-5 classic 6.5 " barrel. It is scoped, and no rear sight.
Does Smith still sell them? Anyone know the size and where I might find
one?
Thanks
All the Classics since the -3 revision are factory drilled and tapped for scope mounts. And the present sights S&W sells (round front type) should fit your -5 Classic. My 629-3 uses the rounded rear sight and is drilled and tapped for scope mounting and your-5 is 2 revisions newer. Brownell's shows your rear sight with a .146 height blade assembly in stock for a little less than $60.
No problem, Termite54. I love shooting my 629 Classic and that 6 1/2" full lug barrel really helps cancel out some of the bite of full bore 44 Mag loads to me. My brother has a no dash 629 with the half lug barrel with either a 6 or 6 1/2" barrel and you can feel the difference in recoil when you shoot his versus mine with the same loads.
