Hello S&W Members --=--
Looking to sell a 629 Big Rock, 44 Magnum revolver, but I cannot find anything on it's value, so I'm looking for some help here please. I have only seen one other online and it sold back in 2012, without the sale price, probably due to the long time frame.
I believe that the product code is 170219FC (but cannot verify, it is the exact description though).
Non-Fluted, Satin Finish. Integral scope rail with under lug weight system. Shows "Performance Center" on one side and ".44 Magnum" on the other of the 7.5" slab-side barrel. Non-Ported and has 'cut-outs' along the barrel length. Spent casing envelope indicates 2002. I know it is NOT a 'Competitor' as those are 6" barrels.
The original owner did not keep the cardboard box with the product code attached, only the aluminum Performance Center case....no product code.
So I'm just trying to find some sort of value for selling please.
Thank you Forum!

Hmmmm….the single article that I was able to find stated that they believed this particular Model was only made in 2002.
Knowing how much misinformation there is out there, I chose to try here on this Forum to find out more.
IF that is fact then this gun should carry more value (I think), but maybe not.
Thank you for the input L-2.
I would appreciate more input just in case.

It might carry more value, but it is important to remember that not everything rare is collectible.

Yes, I understand, but the initial value is really all I'm after. If I wish to sell, I need a base to start from, that is why I am here.
Thank you for the input!

Tapping to the top....need help in approximate value please.
I have only found one other 629 like this for sale and that was back in 2012. Looked like it might have sold for +$3K, but hard to tell due to the age of the ad.
Any insights would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

Actually-it is a competitor-even though it's not labeled that way. That's how they made them early on-500 of them, with 7 1/2 inch barrels-a 629-6 . They are so unknown that I couldn't get a handle on a value for mine either. Someone back a ways opined 3 grand-but I think I'll just keep mine a while-it is one fine shooting revolver.

That is the price that I saw on the one and only advertised Big Rock I could find. It was back in 2012 and the sell price (it sold) was $3,005.
I have been trying to sell mine at $1,100 with very few interested. Very odd that no one seems to know much about this model and the S&W site has zero along with the SCoSW.
I still wish to sell mine, but here in Komiefornia it's touch to do.
Thank you so much for the insights. Anyone else have more to add, please join on in....

I am not surprised. I would be shocked if it fetched 1k now as you have probably seen the 44 magnum market is down quite a bit. I would say more realistic price would be around 800 or so.

Thank you as well for the insights. I guess that I will keep it until it goes up to what I originally paid.

Bought mine new at Cabela's in Harrisburg, PA for right at $1000 in the early 2000s. It had "no name", just the usual PC stuff. "Big Rock" is a new term for me! It's been my best deer getting handgun.

Another factor in Kalifornistan is that any off roster habdgun must be transferred FTF so buyer & seller need to be located somewhat nearby each other. And the buyer needs to make the trip twice.

socal--- A place like GunBroken is your friend when you don't the value.

That ''High Bid'' will determine what its really worth

Yes, thank you for the input. That was the first place that I searched, but nothing to be had. As stated, I have only seen one other and it was not on Gunbroker and was from a long gone auction back in 2012.
I was just trying here due to the high price that I saw on that other auction site.
